The National Engineering Research Center for Optical Fiber Sensing Technologies and Networks (hereinafter referred to as "the Center") is the only China’s leading national-levelscientific and technological innovation platform dedicated to optical fiber sensing technology. Established in 2008 as the National Engineering Laboratory for Fiber Optic Sensing Technology with the approval fromthe National Development and Reform Commission, the Center wasoptimized and upgradedin 2021through a national-level integration effort.

Research Focus & Strategic Impact

The Center advancesglobal optical fiber sensing frontiers whileaddressingmajor national infrastructure projects, strategic initiatives, andindustry intelligence needs. Leveraging Wuhan University of Technology’s interdisciplinary strengths acrossmaterialsscience, informationtechnology, transportation, andsafety and emergency response, alongsidecollaborative efforts withco-establishing institutions, the Center drivesnext-generation optical fiber sensing technologies and deliversintelligent sensing systems and integrated solutions.

The Center houses China’s largest and most advanced optical fiber sensing R&D platform, equipped with cutting-edge facilities for:
