Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China in October 2011, the State Key Laboratory of Silicate Science and Advanced Building Materials (hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory"), hosted by Wuhan University of Technology (WUT), is a leading national research platform in building materials.
Research Mission & Strategic Focus
The Laboratory is dedicated to:
Advancing global frontiers in silicate materials science and technology
Addressing critical national and industrial needs in building materials
Developing high-performance, sustainable, next-generation materials for green and intelligent building systems
Its research spans the full life cycle of silicate building materials—preparation, application, service, and recycling—with a strong emphasis on low environmental impact and multifunctionality.
Innovative Contributions
The Laboratory drives fundamental research and applied advancements, establishing new theories, methods, and technologies to:
Ensure safe service and recyclability of construction materials
Support the strategic transformation of China’s building materials industry
Facilitate major national infrastructure projects
Core Research Directions
The Laboratory has developed four well-defined research areas with distinctive characteristics:
Low-Environmental-Impact Preparation of Silicate Building Materials
Functional Design and Regulation of Silicate Building Materials
Service Behavior and Life-Extension Principles of Silicate Building Materials
Recyclable Design of Silicate Building Materials
